expected. strong high pressure system giving us more triple-digit highs. also gave l.a. yesterday los angeles hit his highest temperature ever since 1877 they hit 113 degrees. so to more record heat is also again in our forecast. we'll take a look at some of those hot temperatures coming up. in the meantime, here's a look at your traffic. >> thank you, tracy. an accident record eastbound 580 at first street near livermore so we are continuing to follow that accident. we'll give you more details in the next traffic hit. this new problem in pinole. eastbound at pinole valley road. there is an accident involving a car hitting a light pole not blocking lanes and no delay to track which is the good news there. and the earlier problem westbound 80 at san pablo dam road has been cleared as well so it should be a nice trip down towards the bay bridge toll plaza. back to you. >> thank you. >>> topping our news this morning, a 6-year-old girl shot while sleeping in her bed. it happened early this morning in oakland. anne makovec joins us from children's hospital where the girl is being treated.

's get another check of traffic and weather. elizabeth, how's it looking? >> chopper 5 is with us now. and they are showing us how great it looks across the richmond/san rafael bridge. they are heading west to the scene of that earlier brush fire out of san rafael. it was reported southbound 101 at sir francis drake. fire crews were blocking lanes at 4:00. as you can sees across the span of the bridge out of richmond traffic is great. no issues. just behind the sound wall near sir francis drake boulevard. we got off the phone with the chief of the fire department and the fire is out. fire crews are off to the shoulder but no longer blocking any lanes. out to the san mateo bridge, everything looks great. 14 minutes in the commute direction of westbound 92 towards the peninsula. that's your traffic. here's lawrence with your forecast. >> temperatures really cooling down outside around the bay area, elizabeth. good old low clouds and fog starting to make its way back onshore. you see some of those patches sneaking inside the bay now but all along the coastline more of that throughout the

.m. >>> meg whitman has now spent more of her own money on her campaign than any politician in u.s. history. the former head of san jose- based ebay just contributed another $15 million to her run for governor of california. the running total of her personal donations, $119 million. that is more than the previous record set by new york city mayor michael bloomberg. >>> the california teachers association has made changes to a television ad criticizing whitman. >> whitman says we should cutted another $7 billion from our schools, teacher layoffs 100,000 more, 33% larger class size. >> that's a clip from the original ad. campaign attorney warned tv stations they could be held liable for slanderous or libelous statements if they keep running it. cbs 5 and some other stations stopped airing that spot. >> i have never said anything like that. in fact, my third priority is education. >> have meg tell us where she is going to get the money from, that's all we're asking. teachers want to know. >> but the ad says "meg says she is going to take $7 billion from education." >> yeah. >> she doesn't say

to reveal that she was in the u.s. illegally. diaz's lawyer, gloria allred, alleges that whitman already knew that because she had received letters from the feds questioning diaz's social security number and that whitman told diaz to check on it but never followed up. here's whitman's take on the day this summer she says she learned that diaz was undocumented. >> we were stunned. just amazed and said, gosh, nicky, we are going to have to let you know. that's our legal obligation as an employer. we are going to have to let you go. >> we have no job, no schools, no place to live, and for that reason we made a decision to come here. i told her that she knew that and i don't have papers to work here and i need her help. >> reporter: the other allegations against whitman that she emotionally and financially abused her housekeeper. diaz says she was hired to work 15 hours a week for $2 3 an hour but that her duties were more than she could do in 15 hours and that she worked a number of hours unpaid. that could lead to new court proceedings if diaz decides
